Inspiration For Creating A Disney Garden At Home

With the International Flower and Garden Show well underway at Epcot in Walt Disney World, I thought it would be fun to explore adding Disney-themed plants to our own backyards! My take this time will be the names of flowers. There are so MANY beautiful flowers that can enhance our gardens be it through scent or visual beauty. And whether you plant a special Disney garden with your kids or simply add a plant or two, you'll have a fun Disney reminder all summer long.

We HAVE to start with the Disneyland Rose (#1 in the graphic above). It's a beauty and if you are good with roses, you must incorporate this one into your garden. It blooms at Disneyland and now you can have a piece of it in your own backyard! Perfect for the Disney obsessed! And while we're on the topic of roses, why not add this Julie Andrews (the iconic Mary Poppins!) and Singin' In The Rain (from The Great Movie Ride) while you're at it (#2 & #3)? And you know, any rose would be quite appropriate for Briar Rose (Aurora's peasant name).

Here in Indiana we are fans of the peony - it's our state flower. And what would be better than a Pluto tree peony (#4)? It also goes by the name Hephastus here in the United States. Still, it's beautiful. And then there's the obvious choice of Daisies (#5), for Miss Daisy Duck. Aladdin also has a pink rhododendron named for him, and it's quite beautiful (#6). Jasmine is easy (#7) and a very fragrant climber. And one of my favorite flowering shrubs is the Lilac. I was delighted to find that Pocahontas has a lilac named for her (#8). Of course, Snow White has two lovely blossoms named for her: a mock orange, another favorite of mine (#9) and a hellebores (#10) which is sometimes called a lenten rose.

And if you ever have the opportunity to visit Epcot during the International Flower and Garden show, I highly recommend it! There are so many wonderful displays set up, classes to take and even a fairy garden to explore! Until next time, may all your days be filled with fairy dust!
